Installed in the boarded windows of Bishop’s at The Dillon in downtown Raleigh, equALLity is a collaborative wood-panel mural created during the protest period of 2020.
The mural was donated by IMURJ and designed by Bethany Studnicky, Director of Arts and Exhibitions at IMURJ, in collaboration with Bishop’s.
Painted with Bethany, Dylan Chad and myself contributed to the project as volunteers. The piece honored POC in the LGBTQIA+ community and was shared by Bishop’s as a message of hope and love for the city.
Using bold color and clear graphic language, the mural transformed temporary plywood barriers into a public-facing statement of visibility and care. In a moment when boarded windows had become part of Raleigh’s streetscape, the work contributed to the temporary visual language that emerged across the city—one shaped by protest, protection, and public expression.
